I do not understand how no cost relates to the person who runs away: “I don’t blame you for running away because my growth cost you nothing.”

Thank you for the comment. The poem is about a fatherless daughter who tries to confront her absentee father….. His only memory of her is as a helpless baby, but her growth is all her own. No thanks to him. No cost to him…..

Thank you for the question. It really helped me breakdown my poem and my intentions. Poetry helps me write about heaviness inside my heart.

I read recently where artists/writers are allowed to move gracefully through “heaviness” that others can’t resolve because they have no outlet. We deal with the truth and that’s the healing.
