I remember growing up being told directly or indirectly that my loudness, my questions, and my skin should be silenced. I took up too much space in there eyes. But after attending an HBCU, reading, writing, and teaching those lies and Microaggressions don’t hurt me anymore. Thank you, Erica Garner for the reminder to speak out and speak up. We can’t be dismissed with the stereotype anymore. If we don’t speak up for our rights- who will??
I have mourned so many of our losses and my spirit stands up in me to stand up and fight for change….. I’m not a marcher, but I’m going to start by fasting with my money. I will do a 30 day cleanse. I’m not sure how the fast will look, but I am so tired of the fear of terror. My dollars are supporting the silence and the comteptuous macro and micro-invalidation of the lives of the slain.
